We started the lesson off with a photo, "Wrong" by John Baldessari. John Baldassari is an American artist. He has a number of famous projects and pictures, but he is very well known for his unique style he brought to photography. Instead of taking conventional, basic pictures he broke the "rules of photography", creating something unique and interesting. We were asked to annotate the picture and consider why it was actually called "wrong". After a few minutes, we discussed our opinions and a few of the points we made were that some of the objects e.g. the tree and car don't fit in the frame and that the picture was blurry.
We thought about the "rules" of photography before going outside to create our own "wrong" pictures. I thought it was interesting to hear about everyones personal thoughts as to what makes a picture "wrong", and I soon came to the conclusion that there really is no right or wrong in art. |
